Sony has confirmed the existence of the Playstation 4 Neo this morning however the console will not be making an appearance at this year’s E3.
President and Group CEO of Sony Computer Entertianment, Andrew House, revealed to Financial Times today that the Playstation 4 Neo will be a “high-end” Playstation 4, capable of 4K resolutions and improved visuals. The console will also retail for more than the current $349 Playstation 4 console, however details regarding the specifications, price and release date still remain unclear.
“It is intended to sit alongside and complement the standard PS4,” Andrew House said. “We will be selling both [Playstation 4 Consoles] through the life cycle.”
While all Playstation 4 consoles – regardless if consumers own the codenamed Playstation 4 Neo or not – will be compatible with most Playstation 4 software, some software may be optimized to deliver a better experience on the Playstation 4 Neo.
The Playstation 4 Neo is rumored to launch later this Fall.
