Square Enix has announced it will be attending E3 in full force this year, with the company outlining plans for a “special video presentation” on June 11. The announcement marks the company’s first E3 event since 2015.
Unlike previous events, Square Enix will be taking a virtual approach to their 2018 event. Square Enix says the event will be a video event on “your preferred livestreaming platform.”
“This website and the respective streaming platforms will be the exclusive ways to watch this showcase,” Square Enix says in an FAQ.
This suggests that Square Enix will be bringing a fast-paced event focused on gaming, much like what Nintendo has done with its E3 Nintendo Directs.
With the release of Kingdom Hearts 3 and Shadow of the Tomb Raider later this year, fans should expect the focus to be on 2018 titles. Square Enix is always good for a few really good surprises, so there’s a chance we might see some Final Fantasy related content, as well.
The event will be available to stream at 10 a.m. PDT and 1 p.m. EDT on Monday, June 11, on YouTube, Mixer and Twitch. Users will be able to experience the event in both Japanese and English.
