As part of the Xbox + Bethesda Showcase at E3 2021, an exciting new Sci-Fi RPG game is here in Starfield. The first new universe from Bethesda in 25 years, Starfield brings a refreshing new take on the genre.
The in-engine trailer shows what promises to be an adventure centred around exploration in the open-world game. A high tech astronaut moves through a spaceship, preparing for launch. The ship itself offers incredible detail, from the lunch for a crew member to a map showing, which has puzzled viewers.
Furthermore, the trailer features a feminine voice offering some of the greater questions for the player. The narrator voice talks of the player being part of the space exploration group Constellation, with the narrator seemingly part of them also.
In addition, the feminine voice talks of a discovery that is “the key to unlocking everything.” This captures what many Sci-Fi players crave, the feeling of discovery. The trailer closes with the mention of “Humanity’s final journey” as the ship readies for takeoff.
Bethesda‘s Next Epic
Further details of Starfield have been discussed by Todd Howard, lead director and figurehead at Bethesda Game Studios. The central theme will be the player answering “life’s greatest mystery”—this great mystery being how the universe and time were formed.
Moreover, the role of religion in the universe is a crucial topic. The game is focused on maintaining realism to ensure the player is fully immersed in the game. It has been confirmed that alien life will be present in the game, although Bethesda gave little more on that.
Starfield is set for release on November 11th 2022, a pleasant nod to the release of Skyrim precisely 11 years prior. It is an Xbox exclusive and will be available for Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC. Those with Xbox Game Pass will be able to access the game on day one.
