While yesterday I covered a horror game (Mundaun) that won’t arrive until at least Q1 of 2021, today’s piece features a game that’s is coming soon. With the Halloween season upon us, now is the perfect time to delve into the horrors that video games present.
Do you like your horror unique? Do you like trippy, colourful, surreal worlds that none-the-less have a connection to reality? Or do you just like music? If you answered yes to any of those, than you’ll be happy to learn the rave-horror game Strobophagia: Rave Horror will release before Halloween.
Pure Psychedelic Horror
Whereas yesterday’s focus was on a hand-drawn aesthetic, this game attempts to create its own world through music.
Swedish developers Green Tile Digital have been “eating, sleeping, and breathing rave culture,” CEO Ben Clarke said. “We can’t wait for horror and EDM fans to put on a pair of headphones and immerse themselves in the kaleidoscope of horrors we’ve prepared for them. We guarantee the Headless Rave Festival will be a party to die for.”
The game will also feature original songs. Music from genres like house, trance, and techno will be there, as well as an “authentic rave experience.”
The game, which will release on October 28th 2020, has the player lost amidst neon colours and dancing people. When the organizers announce that the cost of entry is your life, you must escape, “even as the forest finds a way to work against you.”
There is also a presence lurking in the shadows that is probably best to avoid. The player will use a smartphone to locate points-of-interest as well as attendees with which to communicate. The player will also have to solve “macabre puzzles with twisted logic”.
There is a free demo of the game available for those who want to learn a little more about what the game entails. As for the full game, Strobophagia: Rave Horror will release on October 28th 2020, right before Halloween for PC (Windows).
