Summer Games Done Quick has officially kicked off following a some extra press from Stephen Colbert. World record-holding Super Mario Bros. 3 speed runner Mitch Fowler took to late night television to promote the incredibly successful bi-annual charity event.
Summer Games Done Quick is a week long speed running marathon where the world’s best gamers look to show off their skills by playing as many games as possible. In it’s first few hours, Summer Games Done Quick 2016 has raised nearly $60,000 for charity.
Last year’s endeavor raised $1.2-million for Doctor’s Without Borders, and this year’s event looks to top that number. The show kicked off with a Super Mario Sunshine run, but some upcoming highlights include Final Fantasy VI, Super Metroid and a blind relay race of Super Mario Maker.
