Super Animal Royale has landed onto Xbox Game Preview, where players can enjoy an early-access version of the game before it launches later this year. The arrival of the work-in-progress battle royale was broadcasted by its adorably murderous launch trailer.
Super Animal Royale is a 2D, top-down battle royale with a beautiful art style to boot. Featuring frantic brawls between 64 players at one time, this is no safari ride.
Super Animal World was a family-friendly animal theme park, but in its abandoned state it is now the stage for the world’s most adorable fight to the death. Pick your animal, grab an umbrella, hop off the back of a giant eagle and sail into the battlefield.
What makes Super Animal Royale stand out from its predecessors is its line-of-sight fog of war combat, and its colourful world. To survive, you’ll need to scavenge the park’s deserted attractions, frozen tundra’s, and blistering deserts to search for weapons to help you in the fight.
Armed with submachine guns, bow and sparrows, and banana peels, your furry critter will be unstoppable. However, if you do feel like stopping, the island also holds clues to the park’s history, secrets to find, and NPCs to talk to in between fights.
Evolving over the past two and a half years with community feedback on Steam Early Access, the game’s arrival on Xbox Game Preview heralds the full release across multiple platforms later this year. The Xbox One version of the game features cross play matchmaking, and cross-save with all other versions.
Xbox Game Pass members will also receive the exclusive Founder’s Edition DLC for free, only available to supporters during Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access. The pack includes three exclusive breeds and 10 exclusive cosmetic items.
The game promises to be accessible to new players, with streamlined controls and short match lengths to make the experience less punishing. However, it will be no easy task to emerge on top. That’s why your animal can roll around in a giant hamster ball, or ride tandem on the back of a giant emu with your duos partner – you need to know your way around.
Offering more than just your core battle royale mode, the team at Pixile Studios is constantly experimenting with exciting limited-time game modes that support squads of up to four players. S.A.W. vs Rebellion is a 32v32 mode where the objective is either eliminate the enemy team, or capture and defend flags which provide loot and healing buffs.
Also included is the Mystery Mode, where the usual battle royale ruleset is shook up between seven different variants. Grab a cowboy hat, magnum and hunting rifle in the Wild West modifier, or dance past a barrage of gunfire in Super Slow Bullets. Other modifiers range from the wacky to the deadly, from Bananarama to One Hit Kill.
With the game constantly growing and evolving, now has never been a better time to jump into Super Animal Royale. Thanks to the Beach Party Animals Pass that washed ashore on June 1st, you can now explore the largest expanse of shoreline the island has yet seen. Constant new content will keep you collecting animal breeds, outfits, and weapons right up until launch.
Super Animal Royale is available for free on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S as part of Xbox Game Preview, as well as on PC with Steam Early Access. The full game is expected to release later this year across Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Stadia.
