Every returning and new character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will receive a corresponding amiibo after the game’s official release.
Nintendo already confirmed that we will see new amiibo for Ridley, Daisy, and Inkling, two of the franchise’s new arrivals, but now we have confirmation that the Ice Climbers, Pichu, Snake, Wolf, and Pokemon Trainer will get the amiibo treatment. Nintendo has yet to confirm if returning characters to the series, with different appearances, will receive new amiibo to reflect their new design, such as Zelda inspired from The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, or Link, who is inspired by The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. We have reached out to Nintendo for clarification on this, but have not received a response.
When Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS was released, Nintendo promised that all characters would receive a respective amiibo after the game’s launch. Fortunately, Nintendo delivered on that promise, while offering amiibo for the game’s downloadable characters, such as Cloud, Bayonetta, and Corrin. The new amiibo will presumably kick off wave 11 of the Super Smash Bros. amiibo lineup, with (hopefully) more newcomers being announced at a later date.
