Update: It’s official. Telltale Games is shutting down.
In an announcement on Twitter, the company confirmed that they are planning to shut down the studio. At this time, 25 employees will continue working at Telltale Games in an effort to meet “the company’s obligations to its board and partners“.
“It’s been an incredibly difficult year for Telltale as we worked to set the company on a new course,” Said Pete Hawley, CEO for Telltale Games. “Unfortunately, we ran out of time trying to get there. We released some of our best content this year and received a tremendous amount of positive feedback, but ultimately, that did not translate to sales. With a heavy heart, we watch our friends leave today to spread our brand of storytelling across the games industry.”
Plans regarding the future of The Walking Dead Final Season will be announced in the “coming weeks“. Stay tuned to Informed Pixel for more information regarding Telltale’s future.
