Need more cute-looking JRPG games in your life? Did you manage to miss out on the Nintendo 3DS? Well, the launch trailer for The Alliance Alive HD Remastered for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch should tickle your fancy.
Published by NISAmerica and with the story created by Suikoden‘s Yoshitaka Murayama, those who missed it the first time may want to try it out. It entails Daemonic forces overtaking the world and separating it into 5 sections, divided by The Great Barrier– only the narrative begins roughly 1000 years after those events, which means they no longer know anything about each other.
From that beginning, the story isn’t just the typical JRPG fare where a group comes together to battle world-ending evil (though the stories do converge); it instead delves into multiple perspectives, including a Daemon, and should last for about 30 hours. Does that sound interesting to you? Then check out the trailer!
The remaster will include the usual quality-of-life updates like graphics (shifting from the polygonal 3D models on the Nintendo 3DS to a cel-shaded skin) and a change to the display of information that was necessary for the dual-screen nature of that system. Battling occurs in a similar vein to Final Fantasy XIII‘s Paradigm system, instead being divided into Offence, Defense or Support, which then determines the skills that character can use.
If you are still on the fence (barrier?), check out a more in-depth description and other trailers, including a comparison video for those who are curious, at the game’s website here.
The Alliance Alive HD Remastered is available now on the Playstation 4 and the Nintendo Switch.
