There are many games taking advantage of the Early Access programs so common these days. Why wouldn’t they? While the majority of the feedback from players may not be as deep and technical as play-testers, every bit of info about the game is useful.
There are some companies who take advantage of this and use the players as their testers– which isn’t inherently bad. But its much better when the companies do so only to tweak their game before full release. Either way, putting a game on Early Access can be positive or negative, and there is never a guarantee on which it will be.
The Game…
Luckily, developers Devespresso Games is part of the first group. Their new game The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters, released on Steam in November 2019, has “Overwhelmingly Positive” reviews. The Korean survival-horror focuses on “atmospheric, story-driven gameplay with hand-illustrated manhwa (Korean Manga) aesthetics.”
It has been “lauded for its vibrant visuals, nightmare-fueled narrative, and killer AI.” Fortunately, despite being a sequel, players don’t have to have experienced the original. You can check out the trailer below.
Mina Park (a minor side character from The Coma: Recut) is the protagonist. She must escape her high-school and a psychotic slasher within its halls. Worse, she soon realizes she is in a dangerous, shadowy version of the waking world.
The game explores themes like “friendship, bullying, and pressures of academic achievement.” Players must balance between exploration and preparing for dangerous encounters. There are branching cut-scenes, possible permanent damage, and multiple endings.
The Release Date…
It will soon be available on some consoles. Come May 2020, The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters will release on the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. There will also be no excuses about not playing it, as it will be available in 11 languages. There’s English, Korean, French, German, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Ukrainian, Spanish, Thai, Portuguese, and Brazilian Portuguese.
