At PAX West 2018, we learned of a brand new Razer Blade, that we can finally talk to our readers about. Today, Razer officially lifted the curtains on their new Razer Blade 15 laptops, each housing different hardware at better prices. The laptop that has us intrigued is the limited edition Mercury White sku of the Razer Blade 15.
When we spoke to Razer about the Mercury White laptop, we learned that they were targeting the “Professional” market. They removed the illuminated green Razer logo on the front of the device, and changed the color to one’s similar to professional-grade laptops on the market, similarly to HP and Dell. The Razer Blade 15 is a wolf in sheep’s clothing, while resembling the look of a regular work laptop, but hiding powerful hardware inside it’s thin design.
Unlike their competitor’s, Razer is producing a laptop that not only looks sleek for the modern-day workplace, but one that delivers in power. This beast combines an 8th-generation Intel i7-8750H CPU with your choice of a NVidia GeForce GTX 106o or 1070 (both Max-Q) with 16 GB of RAM, upgradable to 32GB. Blazing fast storage isn’t an issue on it either, with the Mercury White laptop sporting a 512GB PCIe SSD. Sheesh, talk about specs.
At this time, laptop-grade versions of the Nvidia Geforce RTX series have yet to come to market, not without increasing the size of the laptop; we believe is a smart-decision on Razer’s behalf. We weren’t able to run benchmarks during the preview, but we hope to provide benchmark results following the official release of the laptop.
The laptop weighs in at just 4.56 pounds and features a standard IO layout with 3 USB 3.1 ports, Mini-Display port (1.4), Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port, and HDMI 2.0b outputs. To top it all off, Razer is bundling a 144Hz, 100% RGB, matte screen for those wanting the best refresh rates for their games. If you are looking to trick your boss into purchasing a laptop that will have you reaching for peak FPS in your favorite games, look no further than the Mercury White Razer Blade 15.
Arriving in Q4 2019, the laptop will retail for $2,199 USD for the GTX 1060 model and $2,599 USD for the GTX 1070 model. We are told that the laptop is available in limited quantities, so stay tuned for more information regarding the release of the Mercury White Razer Blade 15.
