We managed to get our hands on a copy of Halo Wars 2 before it’s release, and the video shown below showcases some of the jaw-dropping cutscenes developed by the animation studio Blur.
Both cutscenes are from Halo Wars 2‘s campaign, meaning there are potential spoilers ahead for anyone wishing to enjoy the game for themselves. There isn’t much content in the trailers besides the game’s plot and character introductions, where we meet the UNSC AI Isabel and the Brute antagonist Atriox for the first time.
Halo fans will remember Blur’s work in Halo: The Master Chief Collection, where they completed redesigned every Halo 2 cutscene as part of the “Anniversary” treatment. Blur had a hand in many different projects, including a variety of game trailers ranging from Riot Games’ League of Legends to Microsoft’s Sunset Overdrive. Apparently, the team is committed to delivering a quality experience for the projects they work on, as exhibited in the cut-scene trailer below.
The game is part of Microsoft’s Xbox Play Anywhere program. Purchasing a digital copy of Halo Wars 2 on Xbox One will unlock the Windows 10 PC version free of charge, and vice versa. Game saves, achievements and all related progress are also transferrable seamlessly between the platforms.
Fans who pick up a copy of Halo Wars 2: Ultimate Edition can start playing the game four days ahead of its release, starting on February 17th. In addition to early game-time, fans will also score the game’s season pass, Halo Wars: Definitive Edition, and some bonus in-game content. The game is available for pre-order on Amazon.ca.
Halo Wars 2 arrives for Xbox One and Windows 10 PC’s on February 21st, 2017.
