The director and executive producer of Bethesda Studios, Todd Howard, will be awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for “Pioneering open world gameplay” and “His indelible contributions to the world of gaming” come the 16th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards (GDC) in March.
The general manager of the GDC, Meggan Scavio, stated “The Elder Scrolls and Fallout series present gamers with fully realized worlds filled with vast landscapes, and mystery at every corner. We’re proud to honor the visionary developer for his leadership in creating these universes”. Throughout the release Scavio praises Howard’s exemplary work for the past 22 years crafting universes with Bethesda.
Scavio also said that “This award reflects on the amazing craft of Todd Howard and his team”, which is a true testament to the masterpieces brought to life by the people at Bethesda Studios. Bethesda promptly tweeted out that “Todd & the team are honoured to accept this award”.
To continue with the great news, we are happy to report that Bethesda’s “Fallout 4” has been nominated for the GDC’s Game of the Year!
Todd Howard will be joining the ranks of other Honorees such as Will Wright (Sim games), Shigeru Miyamoto (creator of Mario, Donkey Kong, and The Legend of Zelda), Hideo Kojima (creator of the Metal Gear series) and countless other visionaries in the art of video game development, production, and design.
The GDC website describes the awards as “one of the premier accolades for peer-recognition in the video game industry, celebrating creativity, artistry, and technological genius. Industry professionals from around the world nominate for the awards, free of charge, ensuring that the recipients reflect the community’s opinions.” which is no short of the truth as reflected by previous winners and current nominees for the awards.
The Game Developers Choice Awards (GDC) will be hosted by Robin Hunicke (co-founder of Funomena) on March 16th, 2016 at 6:30pm at the San Francisco Moscone Center during the 2016 Game Developers Conference.
