2018 was a great year for gaming. We had several extremely strong contenders for game of the year and arguably one of the toughest choices to date. But we’ve had enough looking back on the games gone by. Now, on this New Years Day, it’s time to look forward to some of 2019’s most promising releases.
Resident Evil 2 Remake – Capcom
The titular Resident Evil franchise returns in all of its former glory and then some. Arguably one of the best instalments in the 20 year long franchise has been remade for us to enjoy all over again.
From the hordes of zombies to terrifying lickers and mutant bosses. The Resident Evil 2 Remake seems to recapture perfectly the horrifying essence of the original game in stunning modern day visuals. I have no doubt that this game will start 2019 off with a bang.
Resident Evil 2 Remake will be released January 25th for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Anthem – Bioware
Anthem is Bioware’s response to Destiny. Unlike Destiny though, Anthem looks like an extremely huge and rich universe with so much more to see and do. The graphics are incredible and the gameplay looks super fun.
Definitely dust off your headset for this one as Anthem looks like a real blast to play through with friends. Make a squad of colourful super soldiers and take on the galaxy’s biggest monsters together.
Anthem will be released February 22nd for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice – From Software
From Software have a serious reputation. A serious reputation for making seriously hard games. Unlike their previous games however Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice promises to break the mould of the “Soulsborne” formula to create a fast-paced, dynamic combat experience.
From the gameplay footage released, it looks crazy, explosive and addictive. I for one will no doubt be sinking countless hours into this Feudal Japanese world.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will be released March 22nd for Ps4, Xbox One and PC.
Untitled Pokémon Game – Game Freak
After the roaring success of Pokémon Lets Go Pikachu and Lets Go Eevee. It would be an understatement to say that we are excited for the newest instalment in the Pokémon franchise to arrive.
Pokémon Lets Go Pikachu and Eevee showcased the visual capability of the Nintendo Switch but followed the more simplistic Pokémon Go formula. However this game will follow the traditional style of Pokémon games that we know and love. We will be keeping a super close eye on this one.
This untitled Pokémon instalment has no set release date but is expected to arrive late this year on Nintendo Switch.
Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled – Activision
Crash Bandicoot received the modern-day treatment with the Crash Bandicoot N’Sane Trilogy. Now in 2019, the classic “Karting” gem Crash Team Racing is receiving the same treatment.
Crash Team Racing was the Playstation equivalent of Mario Kart on the Playstation 1 and it looks awesome with the HD treatment. I definitely believe it will be the most fun racing game of 2019.
Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled will be released June 21st for PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
Kingdom Hearts 3 – Square Enix
Kingdom Hearts 3 is the next instalment of the critically acclaimed Disney/Square Enix lovechild. After 17 years the series is finally coming to a close and promises to be an explosive finale that fans will never forget.
Join Sora, Goofy and Donald one last time as they travel through memorable Disney worlds to try and stop an entity called The Heartless from taking over the universe. Kingdom Hearts 3 will be released on January 25th for Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
Obviously, there are so many more games coming in 2019 that I couldn’t note them all here. The gaming industry just seems to continue to get better and better and you can be sure there will be more pleasant surprises in the year ahead. What games are you looking forward to most this year? Let us know.
