The Witcher Remake
Announced earlier this week by CD PROJEKT RED, The first game in the Witcher Series is getting rebuilt from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5. The game is being developed by studio Fools’ Theory, where a veteran series of staff are involved. It is important to note that CD PROJEKT RED provides full creative supervision throughout its development. The game is in early development, and the developers wanted to let the community know that the previously named project “Canis Majoris” is indeed this remake.
Next-Gen Update “Coming Soon”
The Witcher 3 was released in 2015 and has been one of the best open-world titles in recent years, if not in all gaming. It was announced that it would receive a Next-gen upgrade with an assortment of improvements from the original release, such as ray tracing effects, faster loading times, haptic feedback for the PlayStation DualSense, and the possibility of 60fps. However, due to the extra time and workload for the improvement of Cyberpunk 2077, it has been delayed several times, and its development has been moved from Saber Interactive to being worked on in-house.
There was a supposed leak by a GAME employee that speculated, due to an updated listing for the UK Retailers database, that the release date for this would be December 9th, 2022. There has been nothing to verify this date at this time, the latest update came from a tweet reply by The Witcher Game Twitter handle simply with the word Soon and the winking emoji. If this is any indication, hopefully, the announcement for its release will be soon.
The Next Gen release will be a free upgrade for anyone who already has the game on XBOX, Playstation, and PC, with a physical release being planned for it at a later date.
Netflix Renews The Witcher , Henry Cavill Recasting
Filming for season 3 of the Netflix show ended mid-September, and it has been renewed for a fourth season. There is no information on its release date, but it will likely be late 2024 or early 2025. Also revealed at the same time, the main role of Geralt for the third season will be played by Henry Cavill but from season 4 and beyond, it will be played by Liam Hemsworth. There has been no news given as to why Geralt has been recast for that season however Henry Cavill was recently announced to be carrying on with projects with DC as Superman, and it could be that due to scheduling for both massive projects, it wouldn’t have been possible to do both.
