Looking for an out-of-this-world experience? Previously on Steam Early Access, the first-person cosmic VR Platformer by developer Dr BLoC, STRAYLIGHT, will soon be getting its first full-blown release.
Straylight
Power up the Straylight and swing across a beautiful, deadly universe filled with thousands of blue stars that dot the void. Using the Straylight, players will hook unto stars and swing across the cosmic, soaring from point to point and to new heights.
Utilizing the Fling Engine, a propulsion system designed for comfortable movement in VR, players will take flight through dozens of stunning galaxies and face challenging obstacles.
On The Move
STRAYLIGHT’s movement controls make navigating a fully 3D space a thrilling experience. Each controller emits a beam – The Straylight. With these beams, swing unto stars and propel forward, hooking unto new points directly in front of you.
Be warned, there is no solid ground or other reference points. Race through courses, gaining speed by swinging amongst the stars, and hope you don’t fall.
Easy to pick up, challenging to master
STRAYLIGHT finds much of its inspiration from white-knuckle, pixel-perfect platformers of the past. To become a true Master of the Straylight you’ll need to swing under, orbit around and launch over an onslaught of galactic debris.
They say the Universe can’t hear your cries for help. Meteorites fragments, spinning rings, momentum-halting stars, and more will give players a hard time, or might even spell certain death.
1.0 Release
In STRAYLIGHT’s full release players can expect to find plenty of new content. Hidden Collectible cubes will unlock hard mode galaxies demanding high-speed perfection, or if that doesn’t sound hard enough, try some of the mind-bending platforming puzzles.
Grapple across the cosmos and chase a full set of achievements, reach for the top of leaderboards, and experience updated assets, and new voiceovers not present in the Steam Early Access version.
Furthermore, the Acclaimed video game pianist 88bit envelops the environment with an immersive soundtrack. Whether your new or a veteran of VR you can expect to find a unique experience within STRAYLIGHT.
Release Date
STRAYLIGHT will launch sometime in the third quarter of 2021 for $19.99 and will be available on Oculus Quest and Quest 2, PlayStation VR, Valve Index, HTC Vive, and Oculus Rift. You can check out the stream early access and free demo right now.
