According to a recent Mashable article, the third season of Telltale’s Walking Dead is slated to premiere this year. The article states that more information will be released this year around the 2016 San Diego Comic con, while the game itself will release later this year.
In an interview with Telltale’s CEO, Kevin Bruner, the many endings of season 2 were brought up and he explained how Telltale is dealing with them.
“The way that we’re dealing with and validating and retaining all those different playthroughs is really cool and unexpected and, I think, pretty innovative from the storytelling point of view,” Bruner stated. During the interview he also said “From a role-playing, interactive storytelling point of view, it is not from the bag of tricks that we’ve ever shown anybody before,”
Kevin Bruner also welcomes new fans to the series who might not have played the first two seasons with open arms, making it clear that this season is one to be enjoyed by all, asking the question: “How do we go back and make sure all Walking Dead fans can get in while still keeping all of our storylines going?”, only to answer it by stating “I think where we’re landing with the story for Season 3 does a really good job of both of those things.” he extrapolated on the idea by saying “where [Telltale] is landing with the story for season three does a really good job of bringing in new players and keeping its current storylines going. It allows people who maybe haven’t played [the first two seasons] to come in and get up to speed really quickly. But it definitely respects, honors, and facilitates all of the various end points that Season Two had,”
Don’t worry, players of the previous seasons, Telltale has a way to carry all of your progress from the previous titles to these new episodes, putting no choice to waste. Bruner stated “We’ve got a strategy to help Season 3 players … collect all their data from the previous games. [W]e didn’t have the cloud services in Season 1 that we have now, So we’re going to have a solution for everybody that we’re not talking about it yet.”
This wouldn’t be Telltale’s only exciting release this year however, we can also expect to see Telltale’s Batman before 2016 closes.
