Having problems trying to find an Xbox Elite Wireless Controller? You aren’t alone as many retailers are struggling to keep them in stock.
This can all be attributed to supply and demand. Simply put, Microsoft was not anticipating this to be the ‘Next big thing’, rather, it was more intended for the hardcore community, which is apparently pretty big. That being said, even with a hefty price tag of $149.99 USD and $179.99 CAD, we are shocked by the amount of demand for the product.
Unsurprisingly, the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller is on the top of many gamer’s wishlists. Ever since reviews started popping up praising the premium grade controller, fans have been scouring the internet in hopes to find one. If you run out of luck at retailers, your only options are to shell out the $300+ for the controller via Ebay or purchase the Xbox One 1TB Elite Bundle which includes the Elite Controller.
Major Nelson, Director of Programming for Xbox Live, mentioned before launch that “eager Xbox fans have pre-ordered almost our entire initial shipment!” and mentioned that the supply will be very limited throughout the month of November. This shows as Amazon.com, Gamestop.com, Ebgames.ca and Bestbuy.com are all showing as “Not in Stock”.
If you are desperately seeking one, the other option you have is to contact your local retailer and ask when they will be received next. If they are unable to provide you with an answer, really push on being added to a ‘Calling list’. Many EBGames locations have started doing this as a courtesy to their customers and may be your only option if you are looking to find one before the holiday season.
Earlier today, the Microsoft Store tweeted that they began taking orders on the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller with a December 16th release date; shortly after the tweet went live, the controllers are listed as “Out of Stock”. Unfortunately, there is no word on when the controllers will be back in stock, but it would be wise to follow @MicrosoftStore on twitter for when the next batch arrives.
We were lucky enough to get our hands on one of these Elite Controllers, so be on the lookout for a review next week!
