One could be forgiven for forgetting that there are two consoles releasing later this year. It certainly isn’t at the top of most people’s interests at the moment, what with pandemics, leaks, political stunts, and class-action lawsuits. Combine that with neither Sony nor Microsoft showing much of either, it might be hard to find the excitement. Things may finally start changing, as Microsoft has announced a new event its holding for the Xbox Series X.
Inside Xbox
Referred to as Inside Xbox, the stream is meant to finally unveil more of the new Xbox Series X console. The intent is to focus on and highlight games releasing for the upcoming console, including next-gen gameplay. However, Xbox Game Studios projects will be revealed later on.
The general manager of Xbox games marketing, Aaron Greenberg, also teased things. “…The Xbox Game Studios teams are hard at work on some big summer plans,” he said. As for the event, he says he is “so pumped to see our partners showing us a first look at Xbox Series X gameplay.”
“You want to see games for the Xbox Series X? We want to show you games for the Xbox Series X,” boasts the official Xbox Twitter Feed. The newly unveiled Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is one of the confirmed games; Ubisoft has stated it will be one of those showing gameplay.
Many Xbox fans may be hoping to see Halo Infinite, though it has already been mentioned that this particular event will focus on third party titles. If interested, this may be the closest one gets to an E3, that is if we don’t get the rumoured June Xbox Event.
The console wars are about to reignite later this year when both Sony and Microsoft release their next-generation systems. With Microsoft starting to reveal their latest, Sony shouldn’t be too far behind, lest people lose interest. It wouldn’t be at all surprising to hear an announcement from Sony in the coming weeks. Xbox will host the Xbox Series X event on May 7th, 2020 at 4PM UK Time (8 AM PT). Enjoy the show!
