Playtonic Games brought a version of the DK Rap back with their upcoming title Yooka-Laylee.
The game’s composer is none other than Grant Kirkhope, who designed the scores for many of Rare’s titles including Donkey Kong 64, Conker’s Bad Fur Day, and Diddy Kong Racing. He was also the one behind Donkey Kong 64‘s famous DK Rap, a familiar tune to those who started the game on the Nintendo 64.
Pending release, Playontic Games has been hard at work in marketing the game through Social Media. Part of that is delivering on their promises offered through their Kickstarter, with one being a remake of the Nintendo 64’s DK Rap. Well, it seems Playtonic finally delivered on their promise and uploaded it to Youtube for your viewing pleasure.
Most of the characters found in Yooka-Laylee are present, including Rextro Sixtyforus, Trowzer The Snake, and Dr. Puzz who are all unique characters that have their own purposes in the game. Keen eyes may even see Yacht Club Games’ Shovel Knight in the rap, as he is a character you can run into through normal gameplay.
Yooka-Laylee releases for Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC on April 11th, 2017.
