It’s Ubisoft time to step up to the plate with the Ubisoft E3 2018 Press Conference. Of course, Ubisoft kicked it off with a exuberant dance showcasing Just Dance 2019, however release date and platforms have yet to be announced. The party of characters included a dancing Panda who marched their way into the Ubisoft press conference revealing the new Just Dance title.
Beyond Good & Evil 2 received only what I can describe as a jaw-dropping, in-your-face, face melting experience. Fans of the series will remember Jade, one of the main characters from the first game, showing up near the end of the trailer. Afterwards, they announced a collaboration with HITRECORD, to work with fans of the series to produce content for the full Beyond Good & Evil 2 experience. This is an “open invitation” to users around the world to crowd-source content for the final development of the game. This shows Ubisoft’s intent to get fans involved with the game’s development process, a first for the mega-publisher. We highly recommend checking out the game’s trailer for yourself below:
The Rainbow Six Siege team took a moment to shine the light on the e-sports scene. Similarly to Valve’s documentary True Sight, Ubisoft is releasing a documentary in August called Another Mindset, a documentary focused on showcasing the Rainbow Six Siege competitive scene.
Red Lynx’s new project, Trials Rising is releasing for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, PC, and for the first time, the Nintendo Switch.. A closed beta for the game is releasing later this year, with the full game releasing in February 2019. It wasn’t given a lot of time, but The Crew 2 also got some air-time with an announcement that players can begin pre-loading the open beta for when it launches on June 21st.
Julian Gerighty, Creative Director for Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, then took the stage to talk about their new game coming out in March 2019. They released a new cinematic trailer showing the simple joys of live inside of one America’s last standing civilizations, as all hell breaks lose just outside of it. The game will receive three free downloadable content updates throughout 2019, and feature up to eight-player squads in debut for the series, Raids. No specific details were announced regarding the raids, but we are sure to see more information pop up in the coming months.
Next, composer Grant Kirkhope took the stage to play music for the game he had significant contributions too: Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. He helped conduct a cast of musicians to play the music to Ubisoft’s new Donkey Kong Adventure expansion for Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. The expansion is set to arrive on June 26th, 2018.
The tagline “Piracy is dead” provides the introduction of Ubisoft’s new title Skull & Bones. Your crew will take the sails in this realistic looking sea battle video game. Comings out in 2019, with a beta coming prior to launch. Shortly afterwords, Elijah Wood, creative director for Transference and famous for his role in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings, provided a look into his new Virtual Reality title, Transference. While we didn’t receive a ton of new information regarding the psychological thriller, the game should launch in 2019 for unspecified platforms.
Another collaboration between Nintendo and Ubisoft showed up in an unsuspecting way with Starlink: Battle for Atlus. Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto joined Ubisoft’s Yves Guillemot to announced the collaboration, complete with a custom Starlink Starfox NFC toy, during their press conference. The Star Fox expansion will be exclusively available for the Nintendo Switch version of Starlink: Battle for Atlus. Their new Toys To Life game Starlink: Battle for Atlus launches on October 16th, 2018, for the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
For Honor is receiving a new expansion next year titled “Marching Fire”. This expansion will introduce a new faction, four new fighters, visual enhancements, and quality-of-life updates. Also included is a brand new 44-multiplayer Castle Siege mode, where players will attack castles in an attempt to infiltrate them. PC users are also invited to pick up the “Starter Edition” of For Honor for free until June 18th via Ubisoft’s store uPlay.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey was one of the last titles shown at Ubisoft’s Press Conference. The new game is set in Ancient Greece and, for the first time, allows gamers to select a male or female character for their play-through. The full gameplay trailer is above for your viewing pleasure, but shows new RPG elements and a whole new dialogue system which influences the game’s story and character’s behaviors. The game will launch on October 5th for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
Sadly, the rumored Splinter Cell game did not make an appearance at this year’s E3, which is surprising given the impressive amount of evidence. Even so, Ubisoft didn’t have a lot of major announcements, but rather, more information regarding their already announced titles for 2018/2019. It was a refreshing conference, showing Ubisoft’s dedication for the gaming industry, but not only getting their fans involved, but by providing a diverse games lineup. We needed to see quality titles from Ubisoft, and damn it, they provided it.
