Harmonix announced this morning that Rock Band 4 will launch on the Xbox One and Playstation 4 later this year.
“With Rock Band 4, we’re doubling down on the energy and excitement of playing music live with your friends,” says Harmonix Chief Executive Officer Steve Janiak. “Focusing on the core experience that our fans have told us they love allows us to evolve established gameplay in meaningful ways that we can’t wait to share with everyone later this year.”
Harmonix & Mad Catz have also announced that Rock Band 4 will be backwards compatible with all 2000+ tracks featured on their last-gen versions. This also means that if you purchased any songs on the Xbox 360 or Playstation 3, you will be able to download them, free of charge, on the Xbox One or Playstation 4 respectively. While we don’t have any details on how the process will work, we are promised to be given more details at a later time.
Additionally, if you are attending PAX East 2015 in Boston, you can head on over to Harmonix’s booth (Booth #4224) to pre-order the special Penny Arcade exclusive Guitar seen below.
