The game that revived Conker, Project Spark, has officially been cancelled by Team Dakota and Microsoft today. This means that it will no longer be available for PC or for Xbox, and that all servers for the game will be shut down as of August 12th, 2016.
Good news though, you’re hard earned money isn’t going to waste because Microsoft will refund all people who purchased the game after October 5th and before today through automatic credits.
Community Manager of Team Dakota, Thomas Gratz stated “This was an extremely difficult decision for our team that we do not take lightly. When “Project Spark” transitioned away from active development last fall, many of our team members moved to other projects within Microsoft Studios. While this means there have been no layoffs at Microsoft, it also means it’s simply no longer feasible to continue the behind-the-scenes work involved with keeping “Project Spark” up and running with meaningful updates and bug fixes, so we have come to this hard decision.” on the Project Spark forums (you can read the full post here).
While this does come so shortly after the pulling of Lionhead Studios Gratz says there won’t be any layoffs at Microsoft caused by the cancelation of Project Spark.
