The battle we have all been asking for, console vs. PC, will take place in Gears of War 4 this weekend.
Microsoft and The Coalition will be flipping the switch this weekend that will allow Xbox One gamers to duke it out with PC players. A particular playlist will be created for this purpose and is playable from Friday, December 2nd until Monday, December 5th. The playlist will be Social, with Team Deathmatch, Dodgeball and King of Hill game modes thrown in the mix.
Additionally, those who participate in the playlist will be rewarded with plenty of experience. Wins will now reward players with 1,500 experience, up from 600; where a loss will net players 750 experience, up from 100.
The Coalition is using this opportunity to test the cross-platform experience between PC and console gamers alike. Right now, there are no plans to make this a permanent feature of the game; however, the developers aren’t opposed to implementing it, as long as it makes sense.
A quote from the official announcement reads: “What comes next after this hasn’t been decided – this weekend is an incredibly important first step in this process. Once we use the combination of our data and your feedback together, we’ll be able to make an informed next step (or not as the case may be). The key thing we want to stress is that we won’t be making any surprise changes all of a sudden based on this weekend. ”
Gears of War 4 is available for the Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs.
