Valve’s online gaming platform has broken a new record of concurrent players over the weekend. More than 14 Million gamers worldwide were online, logged into Steam, yesterday.
The record-shattering statistic took place on January 8th at approximately 11 AM MT. According to the Steam’s official stats page, 14,368,909 users were using Steam’s services during this time, a new record for the online service. The previous record held at about 12.3 million on January 3rd, 2016.
This is due in part by the games offered through Steam, with Valve’s Counter-Strike Global Offensive and Dota 2 placing amount the two most played games over the last 24 hours. The latter just received a new patch dubbed “The Journey Update” which included a brand new hero and a mixture of balance and UI changes.
Steam is available as a digital download on PC and Mac.
