An 18-year slumber is a long time for our anti-hero Grave, as he awakens for the latest release of the series, Gungrave G.O.R.E. Brought to us by developers Iggymob and published by Prime Matter, the third mainline entry to the series hopes to delight faithful fans and newer fans to this dark, gore-tastic journey. It’s also the direct follow-up to the smaller titles, Gungrave VR and VR U.N, the prologues to G.O.R.E.
For those late to the party, the Gungrave story and characters were created by Yasuhiro Nightow, most notably known for his creations Trigun and Blood Blockade Battlefront. Gungrave G.O.R.E. puts us in the boots of Grave, a mostly silent protagonist, as he sets out to destroy a drug called SEED. SEED was once destroyed but is now back thanks to the “Raven Clan.” SEED looks to “destroy one’s soul,” so Grave has a good reason to seek out Raven and end SEED’s distribution.
Alongside Grave is his adopted daughter, Mika Asagi, who is the head of the SEED-destroying group called “El-Alcangel” Together, they travel across South East Asia to eradicate the Raven Clan and eradicate SEED.
You control Grave in the third person, shooting from afar and sometimes getting in close for some martial arts action. Grave comes into action with unlimited ammo pistols named Cerberus. Grave also touts an EVO-coffin that transforms to deal devastating, combo-enhancing attacks. Stylish weaponry only for Grave, it seems!
Gungrave G.O.R.E. boasts over 12 hours of stylish gameplay with a gripping story of vengeance, love, and loyalty, looking to impress loyal fans and newcomers to the series. Gungrave G.O.R.E. blasts its way onto Steam, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Game Pass holders can also play the game for free as of today.
