Early this week CD Projekt Red announced its future plans going forward. Over a 15 min YouTube video, CEO Adam Kiciński, talked about what the company will focus on in the coming years. CD Projekt Red is known for The Witcher games as well as Cyberpunk 2077. As it has been 2 years since their last game, Cyberpunk 2077, was released, fans have been waiting for the next game.
Before they got to the games, CD Projekt Red announced plans to create a healthy work environment. They also are creating a new gaming engine that will help optimize development. Also, they are scaling up their two North American studio’s talent pool. So it looks like they will be working on more projects simultaneously.
CD Projekt Red is opening up its IPs to other developers to help create new games within existing franchises. With the future game announcement this year, The Witcher 3 is getting a next-gen update. Next year, Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a big expansion called Phantom Liberty. After that, The Witcher will be getting a new trilogy.
The next 3 released projects will be from the Witcher franchise. The first game is codenamed Sirius and is already in pre-production. Sirius takes place in the Witcher universe and will include multiplayer.
The second project is a trilogy codenamed Polaris and is the continuation of the storyline left of from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. They are looking at releasing the three games in that series over a six year period once Polaris is released.
The third project is codenamed Canis Majoris, which will be developed by an external team. Cyberpunk will also get a second game in the universe codenamed Orion. This game will be far in the future to implement everything they want to add to the new game.
They also announced a new IP codenamed Hadar. This will be the first game CD Projekt Red incubates by themselves. This game is not being worked on just yet; they are only laying the foundations for it.
Most future games will also receive multiplayer modes. They are also looking at expanding their IPs through other media like Cyberpunk Edgerunners. With everything they are wanting to do, the future looks very bright for CD Projekt Red.
