Do you have blisters on your fingers? You may after playing the newest rockin’ rogue-lite deck-building game, Power Chord! Brought to us by Big Blue Bubble, Power Chord kicks it to 11 today on PC via Steam, with a Nintendo Switch version coming in the future.
Inspired by Slay the Spire, Monster Train, and Darkest Dungeon, Power Chord joins the family of brutal deck-building rogue-lites. With a rock’n’roll themed aesthetic, the player assembles the most valiant band members to take back their favourite local dive bar. Face off against the fearsome warriors of Helmoth in an epic battle of the bands and send them packing.
Your band members consist of a vocalist, guitarist, bassist, and drummer, each dripping with personality and style. Each member will have a unique playstyle and cards that benefit the team differently. Understanding their strengths and weaknesses will be critical to unleashing brutal combos and shredding the opposition.
Luckily, if you lose a bandmate along the way, they can be revived at a pit stop along your journey. Unfortunately, you will lose access to them and their cards until then, so be sure to plan the quickest route to get the band back together. Along your journey, locations of rest, random encounters, merchants and battles will all be in-between your band and a big bad boss. Managing your resources and collecting new cards will be essential in sweeping the enemies away and having a final encore.
Power Chord is now available on Steam for $19.99, and a Nintendo Switch release is planned. Four new characters and deck sets will also be added as free post-launch DLC in the coming months.
