Publisher Neon Doctrine has officially announced the Playstation release of The Legend of Tianding, set for January 18, 2023.
The Legend of Tianding is an intense Kung-Fu fighting side-scroller from publisher Neon Doctrine and developer Creative Games and Computer Graphics Corporation, initially released in 2021 to high praise from gamers and the industry alike- going on to win both “Best Narration” at the 2022 Taipei Game Show and “Best Game Design” at the Valencia Indie Summit 2022.
The game is a creative retelling of the folk story of the Taiwanese Robin Hood- Liao Tianding. Liao takes down a variety of opponents- members of the greedy upper class, colonial authorities, and military leaders in an attempt to steal from the rich, give to the poor, and restore justice and equality. Each opponent comes with their own dynamic skill sets and speciality moves, making for various fighting styles and challenges.
The game is as rich with true stories, authentic settings, and historical context as it is with thrilling action and fight sequences. The Legend of Tianding, every bit of it, feels like a passion project because it truly is- Developer Creative Games and Computer Graphics Corporation is headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan, with the mission statement: “We are dedicated to promoting Taiwanese stories through game development.” Creative Games and Computer Graphics Corporation has so far released one other game- Four Color Cards, available on their website, which is a standalone version of a Rummy-type card game played within The Legend of Tianding.
The Legend of Tianding is currently available on PC, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch- and scheduled for release on PlayStation consoles this Wednesday, January 18th!
