Hello everyone and welcome to Informed Pixel. If you’re a first time reader here, then welcome. We’re a geek culture site that covers gaming news, vtubers and more.
Another thing we like to do is Q&As with folks all across the gaming industry, from CEOs to Voice Actors. We’ve also done Q&As with VTubers before too. In this Q&A, we’ll be talking to three Virtual YouTubers from NIJISANJI.
Introductions
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Virtual YouTubers, they’re essentially YouTubers that take on the form of a digital character. They’ve become very popular over the past two years, so much so that they’ve gained an audience worldwide.
In this Q&A, we’ll be talking to three members of NIJISANJI EN, an English focused section of NIJISANJI. NIJISANJI is one of the largest VTuber groups there is currently. NIJISANJI does a better job explaining exactly what they do, so please enjoy this explanation taken from their site.
“NIJISANJI project is a VTuber group featuring a variety of talented influencers who create exciting content. The objective of this project is to accelerate the beginning of the next generation of entertainment through various activities and services such as events, goods and digital content, original music, etc. Currently, over a hundred VTubers are active, regularly creating unique content on various video streaming platforms, such as YouTube.”
Now that introductions are out of the way, we can move onto the real reason we’re here. Today we’ll be going through some answers to questions given to NIJISANJI EN’s 2nd wave, which as a group are called ‘OBSYDIA’.
Much like previous VTuber waves, such as NIJISANJI EN’s 1st wave, LazuLight, there are three members in OBSYDIA. The group consists of Rosemi Lovelock, Selen Tatsuki and Petra Gurin.
Questions and Answers
We asked the members of OBSYDIA the same questions, to see what really makes them stand out from one another. We’ll be releasing this Q&A as individual Q&As in the future too, should one member catch your interest the most.
A huge thank you to the NIJISANJI team and NIJISANJI EN for giving us the opportunity to send some questions across. Please enjoy the answers we got from the members of OBSYDIA below.
Question: What was your first video game?
“I have an older rosebro who had a ton of games laying around from when he was a little rosebud! One of the first games I remember playing was Ocarina of Time and I absolutely loved it and had a blast. The storytelling and gameplay was like nothing else.”
-Rosemi Lovelock
“The very first video game that I can remember playing was Starcraft! It was my dad’s hand me down and I remember playing all the expansions from start to finish as a little dragon. The zerg campaign and race was my favourite out of the three and it’s still my favourite game to this day.”
-Selen Tatsuki
“I didn’t really know what video games were until I went over to my friend’s house and they had a Wii. I think we played Wii Sports! I somehow managed to be terrible at even that…😀😀”
-Petra Gurin
Question: What made you realize games are not just silly little things?
“Once you encounter a challenge in a video game that takes countless attempts to clear, you realize video games can actually take skill, time, and effort to complete. Clearing something that seems so impossible is not just something to disregard as silly.”
-Rosemi Lovelock
“My interest in gaming was actually shaped by my dad and I grew up watching him play a lot of old classics like the early Resident Evil games, Dynasty Warriors and Heroes of Might and Magic 3. He would let me play on his consoles and PC so gaming wasn’t something new to me. My competitiveness also got me sucked into the FPS scene and it grew from there as I try to grind for top rankings.”
-Selen Tatsuki
“I’m not sure what it was anymore, but it was definitely when a game’s story sucked me in so much I couldn’t stop playing. I love anything with good writing and character development, and I think games tell stories in ways other forms of media can’t.”
-Petra Gurin
Question: What is your comfort video game? That you play to relax, wind down, etc?
“Any multiplayer game. Knowing I’m playing against or with others gives me a sense of comfort – Whether it’s FFXIV, Rainbow Six Siege, Tekken or L*gue of Lgends.”
-Rosemi Lovelock
“Currently, I love to play Apex Legends during my wind down time. A lot of people think that its weird but I like to turn off my brain and just go pew pew with friends while bantering about dumb things. It’s nice to hang out and mindlessly shoot things.”
-Selen Tatsuki
“Definitely visual novels – specifically otome games (which you would probably know already if you’ve seen even one of my streams HAHA). Visual novels are basically books with gorgeous art and voice acting so they’re a very effortless yet rewarding pastime.(´꒳`)”
-Petra Gurin
Question: If you could marry a video game character who would it be?
“My first crush ever was Link, so I’m a bit biased with my answer. He’s really cool and mysterious yet always reliable!”
-Rosemi Lovelock
“No”
-Selen Tatsuki
“Limbo Fitzgerald from BUSTAFELLOWS…yes he’s from an otome game. Hehe.”
-Petra Gurin
Question: If you could visit a game world, which would you choose?
“Monster Hunter! I’d love to be in a world with so many amazing creatures! It would be challenging and fun to have all the tools, skills, and weapons at my disposal to have a heated battle! Only for me to come out victorious of course. Alternatively, I’d love to be in the Final Fantasy universe and own a (pink) chocobo…”
-Rosemi Lovelock
“That was a hard question and honestly I would pick the Pokemon world because internet still exists there and they have pokemon. All I need is fiber internet and creatures to make my life easier.”
-Selen Tatsuki
“Maybe the world of Persona!! Having a Persona and being able to fight with them would be so badass, especially if I could also have a cool outfit like they do in P5 or something. I wonder what a penguin Persona would look like…”
-Petra Gurin
Question: Why did you become a VTuber?
“I became a Vtuber to become someone who is more outspoken and confident in themselves. In turn, I hope to give others an entertaining experience, while being able to connect with countless fans across the globe, and perhaps even inspire confidence in people like myself along the way.”
-Rosemi Lovelock
“I wanted to make people laugh, that was my main goal! People have told me that I have a good sense of comedic timing and I really do enjoy making others laugh. It’s been a wild ride since becoming a NIJISANJI liver and I’m happy to be able to bring the laughter and energy to my audience.”
-Selen Tatsuki
“I became a VTuber for several reasons, the largest being that I’m a huge fan of them myself! Outside of that, since I haven’t always been living among humans, I wanted to get better at socializing and expressing myself in front of others. It’s only been a short few weeks, but I already feel like my life has taken a 180 degree turn. I’m so glad to be here and I’m so so excited for what’s to come!!”
-Petra Gurin
