Nintendo has announced a permanent price drop for the Nintendo 2DS, dropping the price down to $79.99 USD.
Some Nintendo 2DS bundles will include a digital copy of Mario Kart 7, adding more value to those still wanting to break into the handheld scene. We have no confirmation on if the Nintendo 2DS will have a permanent price drop in Canada, however, we have reached out to Nintendo for more information. UPDATE:Â We have received the official word from Nintendo of Canada regarding the price drop.
“Today Nintendo of America announced a price change for the Nintendo 2DS. This price change only applies to the United States and is not applicable to Canadian prices. We do not have any announcement to make for pricing of 2DS in Canada at this time.”
The Nintendo 2DS was released alongside Pokemon X and Pokemon Y when they launched on October 12th, 2013. Since then, the Nintendo 2DS took a price drop on August 30th, 2014 to $99.99 USD, making it the cheapest handheld console at retail.
