With the help of backers from Kickstarter in the year 2020 and publishers Humble Games, the release of Protodroid DeLTA release has become a reality. One-man developer Adam Kareem has created a super stylish, solarpunk, Megaman X-inspired game, and it’s out now! Check out the launch trailer below!
While this isn’t Adam’s first rodeo in developing (he has done a few fan games in the past here), this project was not 100% solo. Voice actors, 3D modellers, a 2D illustrator named Deftjuzz, and musicians all helped bring Adam’s project to life. Still, it’s an incredible feat to bring your ideas to life!
Protodroid DeLTA is a 3D action platforming shoot-em-up set in a non-utopian vision of the future where solar power is the main energy source. You take control of the first protodroid, DeLTA, the first droid with near-human levels of intelligence.
The people in Protodroid DeLTA are quite uneasy about human-like AI. But, it’s Dr Shelton and DeLTA’s priority to bridge that gap and change the perception of the limitations of AI. Unfortunately, a drone gang labelled “Vypers” attacks the doctor’s lab and forces Dr Shelton to enable DeLTA’s combat capabilities to defend against the attack.
Realizing DeLTA’s potential while protecting the lab, Dr Shelton’s new goal for DeLTA is to eliminate the rising gang threat in hopes of gaining the city folks’ trust. Armed with her arm cannon and blade, DeLTA must traverse through cleverly crafted stages, with plenty of platforming and upgrades to be found.
Protodroid DeLTA is available for Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
