The Playstation 4 Slim will support 5 GHz WiFi connections if everything we have heard is true regarding its existence. This will be up from the 2.4 GHz WiFi connections that the previous consoles such as the Playstation 4 and Playstation 3 support.
According to the Twitter user @shortmaneighty2, the Playstation 4 Slim’s instruction manual includes information that states: “The frequencies used by the wireless networking feature of this product [Playstation 4 Slim] are the 2.4 GHz/5 GHz ranges.” Supporting evidence reveals that upon completing a network test, the Playstation 4 Slim shows a new field which indicates “Wi-Fi Frequency Band In Use,” which could mean that the console could detect multiple frequencies.
At this point, the Playstation 4 Slim seems to have way too much evidence supporting its legitimacy. We expect to hear more about the console from Sony’s Playstation Event, scheduled to take place on September 7th, 2016.
The Playstation 4 Slim is expected to arrive on retail shelves on September 14th, 2016.
