Still playing your PS2 for your Digimon fix while holding out for the next iteration? Well, you are in luck for Digimon World: Next Order is coming to North American PS4’s early 2017.
Originally, Digimon World: Next Order was a Playstation Vita exclusive for Japan. When it releases in North America, the game will be available for the Playstation 4, rather than the Playstation Vita. This seems odd but when you take into consideration the lack of popularity for the Playstation Vita in North America compared to that of Japan, it makes sense to put it onto PS4. Hopefully, it will scale well considering the Playstation Vita is now last generation hardware.
Its pretty rare that we get a Digimon game on the console here in North America. Its not because they haven’t been making them, Its because publisher Bandai Namco has not been producing them outside Japan at the rate they used to back in the PS2 days. Digimon still has a strong fan base in Japan as well as in North America though it is not as prevalent compared to say Pokemon. Bandai Namco is seeing a surge in popularity in its franchises. Games and animes such as Naruto are gaining significant traction. Will Digimon ever regain its height? We will have to see come next year.
Digimon World: Next Order is set to release in North America exclusively for the Playstation 4 in early 2017.
