Sony revealed that the Playstation 4 has now sold more than 47 Million consoles throughout its lifetime.
The information comes from Sony’s latest financial report, showing that the Playstation 4 has now 47.4 Million consoles. Throughout the console’s life, bigger software releases like Killzone: Shadow Fall, Uncharted 4, and Bloodborne have helped drive the Playstation 4 to where it is at today. Titles such as Activision’s Call of Duty & Destiny may have had an impact on hardware sales by offering up exclusive content for Sony’s platforms.
Of course, the financial report is not all good news, as sales for the Playstation 4 have noticeably slowed when compared to 2015’s numbers. During the second quarter, Sony has moved 3.9 million Playstation 4’s, a 10.8% decline from last year’s Q2 sales. Perhaps the drop in sales is attributed to Sony’s next Playstation 4 console, the Playstation 4 Pro, with consumers holding out on the investment of a new console until it’s release.
The Playstation 4 Pro, arrives on retail shelves next Thursday, November 10th. The high-performance console will be capable of displaying games and video content in 4K UHD resolutions, a first for the Playstation 4 console.
The Playstation 4 launched on November 15th, 2013, one week before the Xbox One was released on November 22nd, 2013.
