Super Mario Odyssey will appear in playable form at E3 2017.
The news comes from IGN, where President for Nintendo of America Reggie Fils-Aime confirms that Super Mario Odyssey will be playable at this year’s E3. However, from the sounds of it, Nintendo will only have Super Mario Odyssey on display, with other first-party game seemingly missing an E3 showing.
“The only decision that was made from an E3 consideration standpoint was ‘do we show Super Mario Odyssey from a hands-on perspective today versus E3?’ And we’re going to show it at E3,” Says Fils-Aime. “But at least from a Nintendo perspective, there’s no other consideration that is driven by E3.”
Last year, Nintendo had a similar approach, by only bringing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for the Nintendo Wii U to the gaming expo.
Taking place June 13th-15th at the Los Angeles Convention Center, the E3 event holds the majority of the industry’s announcements, including new hardware reveals, new software announcements and other tidbits of information from the gaming industry.
The Nintendo Switch arrives on March 3rd, 2017.
