Nintendo has announced the New Nintendo 2DS XL this evening.
Retailing for $149.99 USD ($199.99 CDN), the New Nintendo 2DS XL will release in retail stores on July 28th, 2017. The system will be available in a black/blue variant while Japanese regions will receive a white/orange color scheme.
“This new addition to Nintendo’s portable hardware line demonstrates our commitment to the hand-held market,” said Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America’s President and COO. “New Nintendo 2DS XL sports a beautiful clamshell design and offers a great balance between price and performance.”
The New Nintendo 2DS XL looks similar in style to the New Nintendo 3DS XL, albeit, sleeker design. The new handheld will carry over all of the “New” features, including the addition of the C-Stick and built-in amiibo functionality, all on 2D screens. In fact, one of the only things that are different between the New Nintendo 2DS XL and New Nintendo 3DS XL is the lack of 3D capability.
