Niantic Labs, the developer behind Pokemon GO, may be releasing the second generation of Pokemon to their mobile game in the very near future.
The information comes from SilphRoad.com, who data mined the game’s latest patch and found some incriminating evidence regarding the existence of Generation 2 Pokemon. Also found in the game’s code was Ditto, a Pokemon which players have been searching far and wide for, but hasn’t been found.
First, 100 new Pokemon were discovered in the game’s code, from the second generations starter Pokemon, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile, all the way to the game’s legendary Pokemon: Lugia, Ho-oh, and Celebi. While they are in the game’s code, Silph Road mentioned that further updates would need to come to the game before they are officially launched.
The data mine also revealed Ditto, the first-generation Pokemon which appears to have not been released as of yet. It seems that, when released, Ditto will contain two Pokemon moves, Struggle, and Transform. The source mentions that Transform may never appear as one of Ditto’s official Pokemon moves, and rather, an occurrence that happens upon entering combat with the Pokemon.
Of course, none of this information is official until Niantic Labs or Nintendo makes the announcement. We should expect to hear more information within the coming months.
