Nintendo’s hottest holiday item, the Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition (or NES Classic Edition for short) has sold like crazy in all different parts of the world, with the United States selling more than 196,000 units since it’s release on November 11th.
The console has become the season’s most requested item, next to the popular toy, Hatchimals, retailing for the $79.99 CDN price. Both of these things are high-in-demand, with prices on eBay reaching several hundred dollars. To make matters worse, the controllers for the NES Classic Edition are even harder to come by, with some stores receiving only 1 or 2 since it’s official launch.
“The Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition system is a hot item, and we are working hard to keep up with consumer demand.” Nintendo of Canada mentioned on Twitter. “There will be a steady flow of additional systems through the holiday shopping season and into the new year. Please contact your local retailers to check availability.”
