Nintendo announced that Splatoon 2 will launch for the Nintendo Switch on July 21st, 2017.
The news comes from the Nintendo Direct which aired this Afternoon. During the direct, Nintendo showed off a brand new game mode called Salmon Run. In this mode, the objective is to gather and collect eggs earned from defeating enemies. The AI-controller enemies will be trying to cover your field in different colored ink, and it is up to the players to stop them.
Of course, they couldn’t mention Splatoon without amiibo functionality. Nintendo revealed that a new line of Splatoon amiibo, featuring the Inkling Boy, Inkling Girl, and Inkling Squid will launch alongside the game. Using any of the Splatoon amiibo will give the players the ability to “Befriend” their character, allowing players to save character customizations onto the amiibo themselves. The original Splatoon amiibo are also compatible with Splatoon 2, so it isn’t necessary to purchase new amiibo to use this feature.
Splatoon 2 releases exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on July 21st, 2017.
