While the exact release date is still unknown, Nintendo’s Switch Online service is scheduled to release in the latter half of September.
The service provides users with unlimited access to select online-enabled NES titles, such as The Legend of Zelda and Dr. Mario at launch, as well as the ability to back up save files in the cloud, a first for Nintendo. After the official launch of the Nintendo Switch Online service, gamers will need to purchase a subscription to the service in order to play their games online. Of course, game updates and purchasing through the Nintendo e-shop will still be accessible, with or without the subscription.
Nintendo Switch Online is a lot cheaper than it’s competitors, sitting at $4.99 ($3.99 USD) per month, $9.99 ($7.99 USD) for three months, or $24.99 ($19.99 USD) per year.
