Sony has now sold more than one million Playstation VR headsets, marking an impressive milestone for Virtual Reality.
In an interview with TIME, President and CEO of Sony Interaction Entertainment America, Shawn Layden, confirmed that the Playstation VR headset has gone on to sell more than a million units. Since it’s launch back in October 2016, the Playstation VR has done well at retailers, with the headset still showing signs of being sold out across the world.
For reference, the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive has sold more than 775,000 units combined through 2016, with the Playstation VR leading sales with more than 745,000 units sold by the end of 2016. It is an impressive feat for Sony to sell as many units as it did, but with a price tag of $549, mere hundreds less than the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, it’s a suitable option for many gamers wanting to break into Virtual Reality.
We are expecting to hear more about Sony’s plans for the Playstation VR during their E3 Press Conference, as the list of upcoming titles specifically for the headset are minimal at best.
The Playstation VR Headset is available at retailers.
