The Pokemon Company has now sold over 200 Million copies of Pokemon in it’s lifespan.
The news comes from an official press release sent out by The Pokemon Company which has graciously been translated by NeoGaf user ‘JoeM86’. As of February 29th, 2016, games ranging from Pokemon Red to Pokemon X have sold a combined total of 201 Million copies. This number includes the recent virtual consoles releases of Pokemon Red, Pokemon Blue, Pokemon Green and Pokemon Yellow in all regions. If we are including spin-offs in the mix, the Pokemon games have sold over 279 Million units.
Of course, we would expect these numbers to rise as Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon are scheduled to launch this Fall.
