Update: Best Buy Canada has taken the Skyrim listing off of their website.
Original: A listing on Best Buy Canada suggests that the special edition version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will launch later this year, with mod support included.
At the time of this writing, Best Buy Canada lists the Nintendo Switch version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim as the special edition; something not confirmed by Bethesda as of yet. Better yet, in the product description, it indicates that the Special Edition will include PC-like mod support, perhaps proving that the Nintendo Switch version will include better visuals than the original game, and mod support, similar to the Xbox One and Playstation 4 versions.
“The Special Edition also brings PC-like mod support to the game, so you can continually refresh your experience with new quests, environments, characters, dialogue, armour, and weapons.”
When comparing the game to the other listings of The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim: Special Edition, it is noticeably missing the quote “Skyrim Special Edition also brings the power of mods to the PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4.” It is possible that it was removed to indicate the Switch will not support mods, but that quote is from back in October 2016, so particular features may have changed.
We have reached out to Bethesda for further clarification, but they have yet to respond. Like any rumor, we should take this information with a grain of salt, at least until the publisher has made an official statement.
What are your thoughts on the rumor? Do you think Bethesda will bring mod support to the Nintendo Switch version of Skyrim? Sound off in the comments below!
